The Classique Fireplace Mantel Surround
When I woke up this morning it was 3 degrees in Colorado. With that said it got me thinking about fireplaces (go figure). Mine needs a fireplace makeover with it’s dated 6×6 white ceramic tile and big fat mortar lines (ugh). It sticks out like a sore thumb, good thing I’m not selling anytime soon.

How to choose exterior paint color requires selecting colors that will include two or more colors for the trim and accents. Choosing a hue from the same color strip that is two or three shades lighter or darker than the field color, will assist in selecting the trim color.
Considerations will include: the main field color; trim color for windows and roof lines; accent color for shutters, architectural details and doors (some people make the door a fourth color).
Color speaks and studies show that color has a worldwide language. Color evokes feelings, sends messages and conveys a message to those who view color.
Here are a few examples concerning colors and what they convey:
Pastel yellow gives the impression of sunny, friendly, soft.
Red is arousing, passionate, provocative, fiery, aggressive.
Green is balancing, natural, calm with the message of simplicity, security, balance.
All colors change character when modified by saturation and lightness to darkness. This was a small example of color meaning.
Often when doing a home staging consultation in an owner occupied house that will be for sale on the market (not new construction), I reccommend to clients that they paint their walls. Trust me, I don’t think that people like to paint. I almost always hear loud groans. So, if the home seller is groaning when I recommend a new paint color, you can bet your bottom dollar that so will potential home buyers, if they think they will have to paint when they move into their new home (I think that is the last thing they want to do after moving, right?).
When home staging, a new color may be recommended if: the paint color needs to be updated, or the client has bold paint color and/or dark paint color that may not appeal to the broadest range of potential buyers. Not mention should paint be needed due to dents, dings and holes.
